Hello everyone! Is summer over already? It must be as I am looking at the calendar and it shows October already! Wow did this summer go by fast, and the MSC Winter Carnival is less than four-months away.
The MSC Winter Carnival Team has been busy over the summer locking down lodging, transportation and other details. All of the clubs should have all the details and registration forms for you to sign up for the trip. To refresh your memory, we are going to BigSnow Resort at Indianhead. The dates are January 5-7, 2018. We can ski at both Indianhead and BlackJack ski areas with shuttles running continuously between them. BigSnow has also promised a LIVE band in the Saloon both Friday and Saturday nights. There will also be live music played in the Chalet Bar from 430-730pm on Friday. On top of that, we have planned to take one bus into Hurley on Saturday evening to see what fun we can have downtown.
As in years’ past, the Winter Carnival will include our traditional events like the Wine&Cheese Party, Poker Run, Human Slalom, and a 2 entre plated dinner on Saturday evening. We had so many laughs with the Goofy T-Shirt contest last year that Ski Hawks will do that again. And like last year, we have scheduled buses to depart Honeywell at 7am, 1 and 2pm. Additionally, for those X/C skiers and Snowshoers, you can take a shuttle to the nearby ABR Park and shuttles to/from also provided by BigSnow Resort.
We really expect skiing conditions to be much better than last year. BigSnow tells me that they have always been 100% open by Christmas for the last several years at both Indianhead and Black Jack. So with better ski conditions, 2 ski areas (3 if you include ABR X/C Area), live music, 3 busloads of excited skiers and many events we should have a lot of fun. I talked to a lot of people over the summer and there is high level of interest to go this year.
With all those events and things to do, how could you not have a great time? That said we encourage you to sign up early to have the best selection of lodging and buses. So be sure to contact your club’s ski trip leader or coordinator to sign up. They will also have more specific details about the trip. We are looking forward to seeing you on the slopes (and bars) at BigSnow Resort this January.
